Why cloud is the new ‘normal’ in workplace technology

Cloud technology is fast becoming the new ‘normal’ when it comes to workplace IT. IDC is predicting that by the end of 2018, at least half of IT spending globally will be cloud-based.

Why? Because the benefits of cloud technology are being realised by employees, IT departments, all the way up to board level executives. From simplifying information accessibility, to improving collaboration amongst teams, to having the flexibility to up or downsize depending on requirements; cloud technology is reshaping the workplace as we know it.

At this year’s Digital Dutch conference, we spoke to Eelco Osinga, Director of New Business & Focus Sales at KPN. He believes cloud technology is the way forward for any organisation looking to grow: “The opportunities for businesses when they start using cloud-based tools is that they become much more agile, can speed processes up, and at a much lower cost.”

Technology Trendwatcher, Vincent Everts, agrees. He was quick to tell us why the cloud is so essential for companies going through digital transformation: “They need to get the right information, secure information, important information, get it easily, share it, and use it to get the job done. It is essential.”

If you want to hear more about how the cloud can improve workflows at your organisation, or why Philip Lacor, Vice President EMEA at Dropbox believes the cloud has levelled the playing field between SMBs and large businesses, watch the video above.
